Endangered in Victoria (Gullan, Cheal and Walsh 1990, Flora Information System 1999) and Australia (Briggs and Leigh 1995, ANZECC 1999). Whipstick Westringia has been listed as a threatened taxon under Schedule 2 of the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988. Whipstick Westringia is endemic to Victoria and is restricted to several sites on uncommited crown land between the Whipstick and Kamarooka State Parks (near Bendigo, central Victoria), and several sites within the Little Desert National Park (near Horsham in western Victoria).
